Alfredo’s was recommended to us by a colleague who dined there last night. We had glimpsed it before, tucked down a lane way and had intended to dine there.
As we arrived we got caught behind a large group which caused a jam at the entry. Eventually we were seated and viewed the wine list with jaundiced eyes. Hmmm….not a good selection by the glass – only house wines.
Between us we had the minestrone soup, pan fried scallops, seafood risotto and gnocchi. The scallops were the only disappointment, cooked for the right amount of time but they just missed somehow.
The gnocchi was superb – light as a feather in an excellent cheese sauce. The risotto was also excellent.
The service was a touch slow – probably caused by two large groups ordering at the same time as us.
Overall I’d have to say the food was excellent and very authentic. With a good wine list this restaurant could be ranked very highly indeed.
